As in the novel, people desire to have power, and popularity. Jack really wanted to be the leader, he wanted to rule the kids, make his own rules, and make things work his way, but unfortunately Ralph gets chosen. Now there is comes jealousy, people are jealous of people who are better than themselves. The novel shows us that if we keep on desiring we will never be satisfied, But if we are happy with what we have more will be offered.
